Making a Splash... BabyMoon

Our final trip together before the many sleepless nights that will accompany us with our newborn baby.

We were looking forward to pampering ourselves with some relaxation in our “last hurrah” and wanting to reconnect as a couple before entering (or re-entering) parenthood. We chose Turks and Caicos as our destination and stayed at the Hotel Gansevoort.

 Our trip overall was not exactly what we expected. Infact days before we ran into some hiccups and almost didn't make our trip due to some early contractions and bleeding. Thankfully with medication our High Risk Specialist prescribed to me, he gave us the o.k to go. However, once my body hit the sun for a short period of a time I learned that being pregnant and the combo of the medications I was on, the sun was not ideal. I ended up with SUPER photo-sensitivity, which in turn made me have such a reaction to the heat and UV rays through my clothing, and had to hide most of the time under many umbrellas and ended up taking benadryl most our vacation to just for my stay to be tolerable, taking the edge off and bare the swelling and reaction of massive itching accompanying my skin with a rash and bumps.
One day we walked around town to shop with my over-sized hat, and do anything but sit around near the sun. Apparently, my ankles decided that was a bad idea.

We did make the best of our trip regardless, and the best part was getting into the water! I loved the feeling of all the weight and pressure off my body, it felt amazing to immerse myself in that turquoise blue ocean and pool.

 We were also happy that our hotel seemed to cater to couples that also were on their baby-moon as well and that the hotel was very baby friendly. We met some great couples that were very encouraging that life is not necessarily over after baby. They brought their little one on the vacation and just explained to us how you manage, adapt and adjust where you don't  have to lose your life. If this will happen for us in the future, that will yet to be seen....
